Cobram Estate Celebrates Best Harvest with New Season Harvest 2021

Cobram Estate, Australian-owned and grown olive oil brand, is celebrating its best harvest yet, taking advantage of Northern Victoria’s “perfect conditions” over the past 12 months. 

This is one of the most incredible harvests on record due to the perfect climatic conditions,” Cobram Estate’s chief oil maker Leandro Ravetti said. 

“A wet winter followed by a moderate summer has meant that, come harvest time, the trees at Cobram Estate were super-heavy with fruit. More fruit means the olives ripen more slowly, they’re greener for longer and that extra greenness imparts the oil with more flavour,” he said. 

The 2021 harvest, which began in April, also marks a career milestone for Ravetti who celebrates his 20th anniversary with the brand.  

“I am so proud to have been a part of this Australian owned and grown company for the past 20 years,” Ravetti said. 

“We have always been committed to quality and freshness and producing one of the best extra virgin olive oils in the world, and you really can taste the difference.” 

The olives at the Cobram Estate groves are picked at the optimal time and pressed within six hours to create a superior product. Extra virgin olive oil is simply the cold-pressed natural juice of olives, best consumed when fresh. The fresher an olive when pressed, the healthier the oil is deemed to be. 

To celebrate the 2021 harvest Ravetti, Cobram Estate co-founder Rob McGavin and nutrition scientist Dr Joanna McMillan will host five interactive Cobram Estate Extra Virgin Olive Oil Tasting Masterclasses from June to October. 

These olive oil experts will take its students through a guided tasting of a selection of the brand’s oils, discussing the notes and taste profile of each one and why this season’s harvest is the best yet.
