New Asthma Handbook

Coinciding with its 30 year anniversary, the National Asthma Council Australia has launched a new look Australian Asthma Handbook website as part of a broader brand revitalisation

As part of its evolution, NAC says it aims to remain at the forefront of asthma management and care by delivering a new website that has the same content health professionals are accustomed to, but with features users are looking for in a contemporary clinical resource.

NAC Chief Executive Siobhan Brophy says the flagship publication, which was first published in 1990 as the Asthma Management Handbook, remains a crucial resource helping GPs, nurses and pharmacists deliver best-practice care and improved outcomes for the one in 10 Australians with asthma.

“With increased search functionality, links to the most sought-after content and better user accessibility and layout across all pages, the Handbook makes it easier for health professionals to find all the asthma and allergy information and resources they need—via their desktop or tablet, and now in a mobile-friendly format,” says Ms Brophy.

The new website also includes a PDF maker which allows users to create a personalised PDF with content of their choosing which can be saved or printed. Scrapbook functionality has also been introduced so users can pin their favourite content to their profile for easy access.

“With eight editions published to date and a ninth in the pipeline, the Handbook continues to set the standard for asthma best-practice care while incorporating new developments in research and treatments through evidence-based guidance.

“We’re working closely with leading asthma experts and using well-established and rigorous processes to make sure updates to our recommendations are the right fit for Australian patients.

“Recommendations will be carefully and widely communicated to both health professional and patient communities in early 2020, however the best way for health professionals to stay well informed is to sign-up for our monthly newsletter via the Handbook website or by following us on Twitter or Facebook,” says Ms Brophy.
